CHRONICLE

INTERACTIVE DESIGN OBJECT

The structure of Chronicle was inspired by the concept of “life review”, also known as the experience where one’s having one’s life flash before their eyes. The concept made me think about what milestones would I want to see in those flashing moments at the end and how can they be materialized?

Hence Chronicle takes the form of a slide show/viewing window. Imagine if all the milestones available to human beings become a slide show archive. Each individual gets a limited number of slots to insert those slides, so we need to decide the what and the when.

Though a lot more one dimensional than what reality offers, Chronicle does help me see that there are always places for us to create unprecedented milestones, according to our own priorities.

Society often times measures success not only through the milestones in life but also through the times and orders in which we pursue these milestones. In the rush to meet these expectations, one can found oneself constantly drowning in anxiety about what needs to be done in life just so that one can say “I’ve done it”. Chronicle, hence, became my anxiety-relief organization project. A designed object that visualizes milestones, their places in life, and what they accumulate to.
